French tennis player Gilles Simon overcame the barrier of the first round of the competition in Marrakesh, beating the Slovakian Jozef Kovalik in two sets – 6/4, 6/1.
For 1 hour and 30 minutes of the match, the 27th racket of the world, 34-year-old Gilles, made three breaks and two aces, making a mistake once when serving. The 26-year-old Kovalik, who occupies the 120th place in the ATP rating, did not pass through and made one double mistake.
