French tennis player Gilles Simon overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Eastbourne, beating American Tennis Sandgren – 7/5, 6/1.
For 1 hour and 20 minutes of the match, the 25th racket of the world, 34-year-old Gilles, made five breaks and three aces, making a mistake six times when serving. 27-year-old Sandgren, occupying the 92nd line of the world table of ranks, twice took the pitch of an opponent, made seven aces and three double errors.
