Spanish tennis player Fernando Verdasco overcame the barrier of the first round of the Doha competition, defeating the Italian Paolo Lorenzi in two sets, 6/3, 6/4. The match lasted 1 hour and 29 minutes. The 28th ATP rating number, 35-year-old Fernando, made four breaks and nine aces. 37-year-old Lorenzi, occupying the 109th line of the world table of ranks, twice took the pitch of an opponent, made two aces and one double mistake. The Spaniard remains the leader in the personal meetings of players – 4: 0. In the second round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open tournament, Verdasco will play either with German Philippe Kolschreiber, or with Czech Tomas Berdych.
