Uzbekistan representative Denis Istomin overcame the barrier of the first round of the Delray Beach competition, having outplayed the Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in two sets – 7/6 (2), 6/2.
The match lasted 1 hour 39 minutes. The 102nd world racket, 32-year-old Denis, made three breaks and five aces, making one mistake when serving. 37-year-old Lopez, who occupies the 67th place in the ATP rating, once took the opponent’s serve, made 11 aces and two double mistakes.
The Spaniard remains the leader in the personal meetings of players – 3: 1. In the second round of the Delray Beach Open tournament, Istomin will play either with Frenchman Adrian Mannarino or with American Brayden Schnur.
