The Wilson Blade 98 is an excellent tennis racquet that offers a brilliant blend of control, feel, and maneuverability. I transitioned to this racquet from the Head Prestige Touch MP and was pleased to find similar levels of control on groundstrokes, along with better maneuverability and a larger sweet spot. Although I did sacrifice a bit of power on serves and stability on volleys, the five ounces difference in weight made it easier to wield in the long run compared to the Prestige, which is particularly noticeable after the first hour of hitting. The racquet’s performance with a poly hybrid or full poly at low tension is truly impressive.
One downside to the Blade 98 is the material of the grommets, which appears to be inferior compared to other racquets I’ve used in the past. They can break easily while tying a knot, which is disappointing. However, this minor issue doesn’t overshadow the overall outstanding performance of this racquet. The exceptional ball feedback is a fantastic bonus, making it a great choice for intermediate and advanced players seeking total command over the ball.
