The fifth racket of the world, American Sloan Stephens, beat Hungarian Timea Babos, who occupies the 66th line of the WTA rating, with a score of 6/3, 6/1 in the second round of the “major” in Melbourne.
The match lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes. During this time, 25-year-old Stephens was noted only with five break-points, and her age-mate from Hungary completed three aces, made a mistake five times when serving and made one break.
Earlier in personal meetings was 3-0 in favor of an American. In the third round of the Australian Open, Stephens will play with Croat Petra Martic.
