Who won the most ATP Cincinnati titles?
Since 1981, the Cincinnati Masters has been one of the most prestigious tournaments in men’s tennis. Its first winner was the legendary American John McEnroe, but no one here can match the achievement of Roger Federer of Switzerland. Between 2005 and 2015, he won seven championships.
Four titles at the Cincinnati Open were won by Swede Mats Wilander. The Americans Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi lifted the trophy over their heads three times each. Two-time ATP Cincinnati champions are another U.S. representative Andy Roddick and Serb Novak Djokovic. It is interesting that the latter’s path to his debut title was a thorny one. Before that he had lost in five consecutive finals, in three of which it was Roger Federer who hurt Novak.
Tennis players have been playing doubles in Cincinnati since 1968; the top-ranked players began arriving in 1981. The Bryan brothers and Daniel Nestor from Canada were the most frequent winners here – five times each.
