Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty overcame the barrier of the third round of the “major” in Melbourne, beating the Greek Maria Sakkari in two sets, – 7/5, 6/1.
The fight lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes. The 15th WTA rating, Ashleigh, 22, made four breaks and 13 aces. 23-year-old Sakkari, who occupies the 43rd position in the world classification, once took the opponent’s submission, made two aces and two double mistakes.
Australian went ahead in the personal meetings of athletes – 2: 1. In the 1/8 finals of the tournament, Barty will fight either with Russian Maria Sharapova or with Danish Caroline Wozniacki.
