Tennis players spent on the court 1 hour 21 minutes. During this time, 31-year-old Kerber completed six aces, once made a mistake when serving and sold three break points, and 22-year-old Haddad Maia once let through, made five double mistakes and did not make a single break.
This was the first official meeting of athletes. The next contender for Kerber in Melbourne will be Australian Kimberly Birrell.
