Marton Fucsovics, the Hungarian tennis phenomenon, has been a strong force in the tennis world since he began playing at the young age of five. Born on February 8, 1992, he quickly rose through the ranks, even playing against those three to four years older than him when he was just eight. His exceptional talent led him to win his age group National Championship and the Nike Junior Tour in 2003, and eventually, he chose to make tennis his career path despite also showing promising talent in basketball.

Fucsovics’ early tennis career was marked by several significant achievements. In 2009, he won the US Open Boys’ Doubles title with partner Hsieh Cheng-peng of Chinese Taipei. He then claimed the Wimbledon Boys’ Singles title in 2010, impressively not losing a set throughout the entire tournament. As part of the Hungarian U-18 national tennis team, Fucsovics also contributed to winning the prestigious Galea/Valerio Cup in Venice, marking Hungary’s first ever boys’ European Summer Cups title.

His prowess on the court eventually led him to become Hungary’s No. 1 tennis player, reaching his career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 31 on March 4, 2019. Currently, Fucsovics is coached by Péter Nagy and Miklós Palágyi. They began working together in December 2022.

“I think we work very well together, I will continue with both of them, in the same line-up. Peti will travel with me more, he is a little closer to me, we grew up together, and Miki prefers to manage my training at home. This line-up will remain until the end of the year, after we’ll see,” said the 31-year-old player.

Péter Nagy, who was born on March 17, 1992, is also a professional tennis player who has achieved a career high ATP singles ranking of 409 on May 15, 2017, and an ATP doubles ranking of 283 on December 10, 2018. Having won three ITF singles titles and thirteen doubles titles, Nagy has also represented Hungary in the Davis Cup with a win-loss record of 4-5.

Miklos Palagyi, apart from being Fucsovics’ coach, is also the captain of the women’s national team that advanced to the November playoffs of the Billie Jean King Cup.

Coaches Nagy and Palágyi’s impact has been visible in Fucsovics’ performance in 2023. His victory at the Canberra Challenger, impressive performance in the Australian Open, and his run in the 2023 BNP Paribas Open and the Italian Open attest to their effective coaching.

Zoltan Nagy and Miklos Jancso

In the past, Fucsovics has also worked with coaches Zoltan Nagy and Miklos Jancsó. Their collaboration lasted from November 2019 to September 2022.

“It was a good three years, the news is true, we no longer work together, but for now I don’t want to say anything more,” Fucsovics had said upon the end of their collaboration.

Under their tutelage, Fucsovics, who was then ranked 70th in the world, had risen to be a stable top 50 player. One of his career highlights under their coaching was reaching the 2021 Wimbledon quarter-finals.
