He started playing tennis between the ages of five and seven, influenced by his older twin brothers, Scott and Kevin. When he was 17, he moved to Belgium for training under the mentorship of former top-30 world tennis player Christophe Fliegen.
Griekspoor began his adult tennis career in 2012 by participating in two Futures tournaments in his home country. His regular involvement in adult competitions and consequent entrance into the world rankings started when he turned 18 in 2014. Primarily participating in Futures in 2015, he reached the finals twice and gradually improved his results. His performance enabled him to enter the top-350 in 2016 and debut at the ATP level in Rotterdam.
In 2017, Griekspoor achieved five more Futures titles, advancing him closer to the top 200. His career saw a significant turning point with a surprise win in Tampere, Finland, propelling him into the world’s top two hundred players.
