Yoshihito Nishioka is a Japanese professional tennis player. He started playing tennis at the age of four, training with his father Norio, a tennis coach.
The 27 year old player has won two ATP titles. The first one was in Shenzhen, China, in 2018. The second one, he won at Seul, Korea, in 2022.
In January 2023, he reached the 33rd. position in the ATP Tour Ranking, the best one in his career. Currently, he’s the best japanese tennis player in the world.
His best result in a Grand Slam was in the Australian Open 2023 when he reached the fourth round. He’s left-handed. Nishioka’s idol is former player Marcelo Ríos
On four different occasions, he defeated top ten players: in 2019, against Kei Nishikori and Gal Monfils, and in 2022, he beat Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud.

Christian Zahalka
His current coach is Christian Zahalka. He’s been coached by Christian Zahalka since September of 2022. In October of 2022, Yoshihito Nishioka won his second ATP title in Seoul, where he beated Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the final match 6-4, 7-6(5).
Then, he lost against Sebastian Korda in the Quarterfinals of Antwerp, Belgium. The next week, he was defeated by Taylor Fritz at Vienna, Austria, in the round of 32.
Then, in the last ATP Masters 1000 of 2022, he lost against ATP No 1Carlos Alcaraz.
In Adelaide 2023, he reached the semifinals of the tournament. In the Australian Open 2023, he lost in the 4th. Round, his best result in a Grand Slam tournament. In January of 2023, he achieved his best position in the ATP.
The Austrian Zahalka is mainly a WTA tennis coach. Throughout his career, he was the coach of Cara Black, Nadia Petrova, Alla Kudryavtseva, Marina Erakovic, Kimiko Date and Vania King. Now, he still coaches Misaki Doi. In the ATP Tour, he’s also been the coach of Greg Rusedski.
He was a professional tennis player, but later on, when he worked at a private club in Southern California, he discovered his true passion: coaching.
About Zahalka, Nishioka said: “After (the final at Washington), I got a new coach and won the Seoul [ATP] 250, which jumped my ranking up as well. We are still working together and I’m still having good results. I’m really happy to decide that i’m working with him. I believe I can (improve) my ranking and I believe I can make better results for other tournaments as well, so I have great confidence.”

Yasuo Nishioka
Before Zahalka, Yoshiuto’s coach was his brother, Yasuo Nishioka. He worked with his relatives from the beginning of his career, in 2014, till September 2022. In 2018, the Japanese tennis player won his first ATP title in Shenzhen, China. He also reached the Delray Beach final in 2020, and ATP Washington in August 2022.
Between 2014 and 2018, Nishioka also won five ITF titles. His best ranking was 54, after he reached the final in Washington.
As a professional tennis player, Yasuo Nishioka played 17 matches between 2012 and 2016. He won four of them.
Norio Nishioka, Yoshihuto’s father, is a tennis professor. Both brothers started playing with him.
