Guy with a tennis pedigree, born and raised in a tennis family, is twenty-seven years old Frenchman, Arthur Rinderknech.

Arthur Rinderknech was born on 23rd July 1995 in Gassin, France. His father Pascal is the director of a tennis club in Paris and former solid national tennis player, and his mother Virginie Paquet is former tennis player ranked 208th in the World in 1989.

Arthur has three sisters: Mathilde, Julie and Flore. Guided by his parents, he started playing tennis at age of six and his father was his first coach. After High school graduation he did not feel ready to break through on the Tour so he decided to dedicate to his education and went to USA at Texas A&M University.

There he played for the college tennis team and was five-time All American (3 singles, 2 doubles).“I don’t think I was determined to be a professional player. But throughout my four years at college, I developed this desire, I did what I had to do to progress, got older and started to be more mature.” said Arthur.

After graduating in business, he returned to France and started playing pro tennis. His favorite shot is forehand, surface is hard court and tournament Rolland Garros. His idol while growing up was Juan Carlos Ferrero, but most recently he admired Juan Martin del Potro.

“That’s my favorite player. He is the kind of guy I try to model my game from. It’s how he moves for a tall player and is just ripping his forehand. It’s unbelievable when he’s on.”

Arthur is also a big fan of football and basketball. His favorite football club is St. Etienne and as for basketball he supports Miami Heat. LeBron James is his favorite athlete. In his free time he likes to watch TV shows and his favorite is Prison Break.

Sebastien Villette

Since season 2020, Arthur’s coach is his compatriot Sebastien Villette.

Sebastien Villette is born in Cherbourg, France. He is former tennis player of Blanc-Ruisseau and also a former handball player at JS Cherbourg. Sebastien graduated in sports training and performance sciences at University of Caen Normandy. He started coaching in 2006, mostly 18 years old players and younger. He loves music and play drums in his free time.

Since 2017 is coach of Manuel Guinard who was not ranked when they started and led him to achieve career-best of World no.134. Manuel and Arthur played doubles at tournaments in season 2019 and that’s the how link was made.

After USA, Arthur spent a year at CNE (Centre National d’Entrainement) but the results were not following and he was not progressing. He felt the need to fly on his own, to become independent. He looked for a structure or a coach and hired Sebastien. And it turned out to be excellent choice.

In the first season working together, Arthur made his Grand Slam debut and won four Challenger titles, out of which two playing doubles alongside Manuel Guinard. Next two years he won two more Challengers and made his debut on ATP Tour.

“He was very good in the Challenger. He hardly ever lost to players above the top 100. We don’t calculate the number of points, we don’t care. I want him to play against the best players to see what he lacks” said back then Villette about his trainee.

From no.343 ranking when they started collaborating, Arthur reached his career-best of no.42 in October 2022. At this year Australian Open, he managed to play quarterfinals in doubles and this week he is competing at ATP 250 tournament in Montpellier, France.

“Just keep doing your thing and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Keep doing and don’t get upset when things aren’t perfect.” is the best advice that he received from his coach.

Steve Denton

During his college years, Arthur was coached by former world no.12, Steve Denton.
Steve Denton (66) was born on 5th September 1956 in Kingsville, Texas. He is a former tennis player on the ATP Tour and currently the head tennis coach of men’s tennis team at Texas A&M University. Denton attended Bishop High School in Bishop, Texas and won four consecutive University Interscholastic League state 3A singles titles.

Then at University of Texas earned All-American honors in 1978. For his collegiate and professional accomplishments was inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor in 2006.

After university graduation, he spent nine seasons playing on ATP Tour and achieving best results in doubles. In 1982 he won the US Open and has eight more ATP tournament titles. He made his coaching debut at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2001, stayed five seasons there, won five championships and was named Southland Conference Coach of the Year, twice. Since 2006 he is head men’s tennis coach at Texas A&M University.

There, in 2015 came Arthur, who found the University and coach Steve to be a good fit. As a senior, he clinched Texas A&M’s first ever trip to the NCAA Semifinals. Was ranked as high as no.10 in the country in singles and in 2016 was NCAA doubles runner-up. He helped to a national team ranking of No.5, playing primarily at the No.1 spot. While still at the university, he won one Futures tournament in Arlon, Belgium, playing in doubles with compatriot Florian Lakat.
