Nicknamed “The Bublik Enemy”, Russia born and raised tennis player, who since 2016 plays under the flag of Kazakhstan, is twenty-five years old Alexander Bublik.

Alexander Stanislavovich “Sasha” Bublik was born on 17th June 1997 in Gatchina, Russia in a family of Stanislav Bublik and Natalya Anatolyevna. His father is tennis coach and introduced him to the sport. He started playing tennis at age of four and during his junior years he won eleven titles and reached a career-high of no.19 on the ITF junior circuit.

He is a player with capricious game style, known for his occasional use of unpredictable trick shots and underarm serve, often compared to Nick Kyrgios. Bublik possesses a powerful serve which placed him at no.1 position at ATP Tour for the number of aces served in season 2021.

He turned pro in season 2016, at the end of which he announced that would change his citizenship of Russia to Kazakhstan. His favorite surface is hard court and detests playing on clay.

“I wish the clay season would end soon and I would be going over to grass. That’s all I can say. I Hate clay. It’s the statement, I hate this surface.” Bublik said once in an interview after losing a match played on clay court.

Bublik’s idol is Tomas Berdych and from the players on Tour he is friend with compatriots, Andrei Rublev and Karen Khachanov. On the WTA tour he has familiar face in Daria Kasatkina who is his cousin.

He is a big music fan, especially rap and his favorite artists are Russian Oxxxymiron and American Eminem. Also, Alexander is interested in UFC tournaments and is big fan of Conor McGregor.

Season 2023 Alexander started with a new head coach, Artem Suprunov.

Artem Suprunov was born on 11.10.1994 in Russia and is former tennis player. He played for two years at Futures tournaments and didn’t have any significant results. His player record is four wins and twenty-one losses.

After retirement at the end of 2013, he started coaching. At the beginning of this season, teamed with physiotherapist Juan Luis Marques and strength and condition trainer Rostislav Averin, are working in synergy to support Bublik and led him to the new heights in his tennis career.

This week he was defending his title from Open Sud de France in Montpellier, but he was defeated in the 1/16 finals.

Since his first steps on the tennis court until the end of last season, Alexander’s coach was his father Stanislav Bublik.

Stanislav Gennadievich Bublik after graduating from the Institute of Physical Education, began to train young people together with his wife Natalya, who played tennis well at the amateur level. He is a tennis coach since 1995 and besides his son, he coached few more players from the ATP Tour.

From 2016 until 2020 he coached Mikhail Kukushkin and helped him reach a career-high singles ranking of World no.39 in 2019. Also, he coached Dmitry Popko from 2018 to 2022, helping him reach a career-high ranking of World no.162 in 2021.

As for his son, he taught him everything he knows about tennis. Under his father’s mentorship, during his junior tennis years, Alexander won three Futures titles playing in doubles. In his first season as pro tennis player, began ranked as World no.964, he won four Futures in singles and finished the year as 205th on ATP rankings.

He started the next season with qualifying for his first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open, and winning his first main-draw match. That year Alexander won two Challenger titles and broke into the top 100 for the first time, reaching a career-high ranking at that time, of no.95. Due to an injury, he struggled with form in season 2018, but at his last event of the year he captured the Challenger title in Bratislava.

His maiden ATP final, Bublik reached in the season 2019 at the tournament in Newport and later in the season came his second, at Chengdu Open. Besides that, he won three more Challenger titles, which helped him to reach a new career high of no.48.

Next two seasons he had significant results playing doubles. At 2020 Australian Open, partnering Mikhail Kukushkin, he reached the semifinal and at 2021 French Open, partnering Andrey Golubev, he played the final.

Bublik started the 2022 season with style, by winning his first ATP singles title at Open Sud de France in Montpellier. That led him to his career-best ever ranking of no.30 on February 2022.

In August Alexander made his biggest win in life, welcoming to the World his son Vasyli.“How will my son affect my career? Maybe good, maybe bad. Let’s see. Since he was born, to be honest, nothing worries me. I only care about him. If you tell me to play on clay, I will play, if you tell me to play on grass, I will play on grass. It will be necessary to play at 23:00, I will play. Nothing else matters to me more.”

At the end of the season his father Stanislav withdrew from coaching him and left him in the hands of a new coach.
