Pablo Carreno Busta Career
Pablo Carreño Busta was born on July 12, 1991 in Gijon (Spain) in the family of an architect and a doctor. He first stepped on the court at the age of six.
Carreño Busta made his singles debut in 2006. As a junior, he made steady progress, reaching the sixth position in the junior rankings by 2009. He won his first Futures trophy at the same time, starting his gradual rise up the rankings, and two years later was given the opportunity to play in the main draw at the ATP Barcelona tournament. Despite a poor start, Pablo soon won his first Challenger title, finishing the year in the top 150.
The 2013 season was one of the most successful in the Spaniard’s career. He won several consecutive ATP challenger titles, reached the semifinals of the ATP event in Oeiras (Portugal) before making his Grand Slam debut in France. Despite the fact that his lot was more than difficult (he was already up against Roger Federer in the first round), Pablo was not upset by the failure. Gradual progress allowed him to enter the top 100 and start the next season no less confidently. In 2014, Carreño Busta made it to the third round of the US Open for the first time and won several more ATP titles.

The real turning point for the Spaniard was 2016. He won the first ATP doubles trophy of his career, reached the singles finals, and then finally won the singles title at the ATP event in Winston Salem. In the same season Pablo debuted for the Spanish team at the Davis Cup, as well as reaching the doubles finals of the U.S. Open in tandem with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Toward the end of the year, the tennis player won his second ATP trophy in Moscow and climbed into the top 30.

The next season the Spaniard renewed several personal records. In particular, he managed to reach the quarter-finals of Roland Garros and the semi-finals of the American Majors, which allowed him to debut in the top ten singles rankings. At the end of the year, he qualified for the ATP Finals for the first time in his career as a reserve, but he did not win a single match, losing first to Dominic Thiem and then to Grigor Dimitrov.
2018 and 2019 did not bring Pablo any significant achievements. The only exceptions were a successful performance in the Asian series of tournaments which allowed him to add another trophy in Chengdu to his piggy bank, as well as a victory in the Davis Cup with the national team.
The year 2020 was quite successful for Carreño Busta. The Spaniard was good in doubles matches at the ATP Cup, won the doubles Masters in Cincinnati, and also reached the semifinals of the US Open and the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.
