Australian player Ashleigh Barty is in great shape ahead of the Australian Open. She recently won the Yarra Valley Classic with a two-set win over Garbine Muguruza and didn’t drop a single game today against Danka Kovinic.
In the post-match interview, Barty, the WTA No. 1, said of her stunning victory at the Australian Open
“I know my team and I did a great job in the no-tennis period. I deserve the right to play at this level. You never know what to expect from yourself before the season starts, especially after a long break. You don’t know what the results will be. Something can always go wrong.
It’s part of being an athlete, it’s a challenge. You’ve got to get out on the court and fight. I’ve been working hard, so I don’t lose confidence and challenge myself. I want to get better every match.”

In the second round of the competition, the Australian will play against her compatriot Daria Gavrilova. The favorite of course will be Ashleigh Barty.
