Canadian tennis player Felix Auger overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Stuttgart, beating Latvian Ernest Gulbis – 7/5, 6/3.
For 1 hour and 26 minutes of the match, the 21st racket of the world, 18-year-old Felix, made two breaks and four aces, mistaken three times when serving. The 30-year-old Gulbis, occupying the 90th place in the ATP rating, made six aces and four double faults. Previously, the players did not meet each other.
In the second round of the competition, the Mercedes Cup Auger will play either with Frenchman Gilles Simon or with German Peter Gojowczyk.
