Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov could not overcome the barrier of the Masters first round in Madrid, losing to his compatriot Felix Auger – 2/6, 6/7 (7).
For 1 hour and 49 minutes of a duel, the 20th ATP rating number, 20-year-old Denis, took an opponent one time, made one ace and four double errors. 18-year-old Felix, who occupies the 30th position in the world classification, made three breaks and ace, making a double mistake when serving.
Shapovalov remains the leader in the personal meetings of the players – 2: 1. The next opponent for Auger in the Mutua Madrid Open tournament will be Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
