Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis commented on his victory over Russian Daniil Medvedev at the start of the tournament in Dubai.
“I felt fine and was pleased with my game. I strictly adhered to the plan: I kept closer and did not allow Medvedev to hold his favorite long draws,” the ATP press service quoted Berankis as saying.
Note that for the first time since 2016, Berankis managed to complete the round in a tournament above ATP 250 category. The last time this happened was in Basel in 2016.
