The 52nd world number one, Italian Andreas Seppi, defeated Australian Jordan Thompson who occupying the 68th line of the ATP rating, with a score of 6/3, 4/6, 6/1 in the second round of the Delray Beach tournament.
The match lasted 1 hour and 44 minutes. During this time, 35-year-old Seppi completed seven aces, made a mistake four times in filing and sold five break points, and 24-year-old Thompson filed five times, made three double mistakes and made two breaks. Now the score in personal meetings was 2-0 in favor of the Italian.
In the quarterfinals of the Delray Beach Open competition, Seppi will play either with Briton Daniel Evans or with South African Lloyd Harris.
