Donna Vekic was born on June 28, 1996 in the Croatian city of Osijek. Her father Igor is a former professional soccer goalkeeper and her mother Brankica is a track and field athlete. The athlete has a younger brother, Bruno.
Donna first picked up a racket at the age of six and started her professional career in 2011. That’s when she won her first ITF tournament title. The following season, Vekic made her debut for Croatia in the Fed Cup and also reached her first final at a WTA event in Tashkent.
In 2013, she made her first Grand Slam tournament appearance, and after that she was ranked in the top 100 of the world rankings. The Croatian won her debut WTA trophy in 2014 in Kuala Lumpur.
Her favorite surface is the hardcourt. Donna speaks three languages – Croatian, English, and Italian.
