Coco Gauff was born on March 13, 2004 in Delray Beach, Florida, USA. The athlete was named after her father, a professional basketball player, who is also her coach. Goff’s mother Candy is a former teacher, now a homemaker. Cori has two younger brothers and did not go to school, but was home-schooled with her mother.
Cori started playing tennis at the age of four. She also trained with Gerald Loglo at the Delray Beach Tennis Academy. At the age of 11, the American would be noticed by Serena Williams coach Patrick Muratoglu, starting to work with her in Nice.
In October 2018, Goff signed her first full sponsorship contract with footwear and apparel manufacturer New Balance. In March 2019, the American signed a deal with Roger Federer’s sponsor Italian company Barilla.
Cori now resides and trains in Delray Beach. She won junior Roland Garros, had the third-fastest serve in Wimbledon history at age 14 and made her tournament debut in Miami. At 15, Goff became the youngest competitor in Wimbledon history and defeated Venus Williams at the start of the tournament.
