Caroline Wozniacki was born July 11, 1990 in the Danish city of Odense. Her parents, Piotr and Anna were born in Poland and have Polish citizenship, but later moved to Denmark. Piotr played soccer professionally and Anna played volleyball. Caroline has a brother Patrick, who followed in his father’s footsteps and took up soccer.
Wozniacki picked up a racket at the age of seven at the suggestion of Peter. She began her professional career in 2005. The following season she debuted at a WTA tournament in Memphis and by the end of 2007 she was in the Top 100 of the world rankings.
Her favorite surface is hardcourt. The Dane prefers to play defense on the backline and succeeds at the expense of few errors on her part. Her tennis idols are Martina Hingis and Steffi Graf.
In addition to tennis, Caroline likes soccer, swimming and golf. She speaks fluent Polish, Danish and English and understands Russian. Her hobbies are reading, music and shopping. The athlete loves chicken curry, which her mother cooks.
