Australian Samantha Stosur and Chinese Zhang Shuai became the winners of the Australian Open, having outplayed Hungarian Timea Babos and Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic in the final — 6/3, 6/4.
The meeting lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes. Samantha and Zhang Shuai made three breaks and two aces, making a mistake eight times when serving. Babos and Mladenovic once took the pitch of their rivals, made one ace and two double mistakes.
For Stosur, this title became the third in a career on “Slams” in doubles, and for Zhang Shuai – the first, bringing in $ 750,000 in prize money and 2,000 rating points.
