German tennis player Laura Siegemund shared her impressions of the victory over Victoria Azarenka from Belarus in the first round of the Australian Open.
“I am very glad to be back in Melbourne. A couple of years ago I met Elena Jankovic here and it was a great match. Today I played great in the first game and played a tie-break, but lost an advantage.
A timeout helped me reload my head and get back into the game. I understood that I was demonstrating good tennis, I just need to finish the job. In the third set, I tried to act with the maximum concentration. It was obvious that just like that Azarenka would not give up.
I have come a hard way. It was very difficult to gradually rise in the ranking. Nice to play again at such competitions. It is always difficult to return after an injury, but I am here and enjoy what I do, ”the tournament press service quotes Siegemund as saying.
