Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina refused to play for the national team in the next match of the “Federation Cup” because of the small fee. It is reported by the press service of the Tennis Federation of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Tennis Federation reports that Elina Svitolina and Dayana Yastremska, despite the preliminary agreements reached between the parties, will not play for the Ukrainian team in the Federation Cup games in Polish Green Gora. The reason is the new financial conditions put forward by both tennis players Stefan Gurov, who is the chairman of the TOP Five Management agency.
It is no secret that all the leading players receive prizes from the Ukrainian Tennis Federation for participation in the “Davis Cup” and “Federation Cup”. The size of this reward is known to players before the start of each season and is based on their current rating. Also, the size of this remuneration is determined by the capabilities of the Federation budget.
We hope to change the attitude of Ukrainian tennis players to performances for the national team of Ukraine. We believe that participation in matches for the national team of their homeland should be primarily based on patriotism, dedication and respect for the sporting honor of Ukraine.
