Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova commented on reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
– I went to the court confident in myself, because I had already beaten her many times. The local conditions are right for me, the last couple of matches I play well. The previous match was tough, but today I felt confident. Having made the first break, I was convinced that I would have a chance. At first, she didn’t play bad either, but when I stepped forward, I felt much more confident, and on the contrary, she was weaker, because I lost to so many times. It’s hard to play with someone you often lose to.
But still she is a good player, she also had good moments. I saw the statistics: I was not mistaken enough and pressed on it all the time. I served well, and in general, more or less I did everything well today. It was stable. I have a plan, and everything worked out. But this is because I felt confident before the match.
– Today was easier than you expected?
– I would not say that it is easier, but faster. Probably, I expected a more stubborn account. But it happens. Sometimes you go through heavy matches, and then stronger opponents win easier. I do not know. Tennis is like that. The score, it seemed to me, was not in the game – it was more stubborn, especially in the first set. I lost it there at all. Today I played with the most serious competitor in this tournament, but the match itself was not the most difficult.
