Andre Agassi Career
Andre Agassi was born on April 29, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His mother was American and his father Emmanuel Agassi was an Iranian of Armenian descent. After moving to the US, the father of our hero today had a successful career of a boxer, but in spite of that he always had a special love to tennis. For his father Emmanuel had watched American and British soldiers playing tennis in the courtyard of a Christian mission.
Later, after noticing a local boy at the fence, one of the soldiers gave the boy his first tennis racket. Many years have passed since then. Emmanuel moved from Iran to the United States, where he started a family and also built a small dirt tennis court near his home. Despite Emmanuel’s successful career in boxing, he has always taught his four children only the game of tennis. Playing with the kids, the famous Iranian-American athlete hoped that each of them would have a successful career on the tennis courts in the future. But only one of Emmanuel’s children, the younger son Andre, had a chance to become famous in the tennis world. In his early childhood, the future tennis player spent a huge amount of time on the courts.

Together with his father he often went to different junior tournaments, where at the age of 10 he got significant results. Specifically, in 1980, Andre Agassi was a finalist in the U.S. Championships in his age group. A year later he reached the semi-finals. To help him have a successful career in the sports world, Emmanuel sent his son to the tennis academy of Nick Bollettieri, who was a longtime friend of the boxer. For the sake of continuing his career, Andre had to move to Florida, but it turned out to be worth it. During several years of studying at the prestigious tennis academy, our hero greatly improved his professional skills that’s why at the age of 14 he has already won his first title of the US champion in his age group.
Andre Agassi turned pro at the age of sixteen. In February 1986 he appeared at a tournament in La Quinta, California, where he safely passed the first round, but lost in the second round to then world No. 3 Mats Wilander. Subsequently, our hero managed to take revenge on the Swede on several occasions. Under the guidance of coach Nick Bollettieri, Agassi grew and progressed rapidly. Agassi became a breakout star.
