Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, who is currently resting in France, has responded to the publication of an updated ATP and WTA calendar.
“It’s great that everything’s coming back, of course, there are so many questions. I don’t think I’m the only one with questions. At the moment, the conditions they offer us are not ideal, because there will be a lot of tests, plus isolation, it is not clear what will happen with the glasses, with the money…
It’s very hard to say anything. If there are no points in this tournament, I don’t know if it makes sense to go and play, because the conditions are quite stringent. If you have to spend so much time in isolation, it also plays a big role. We’ll be watching… I know there’ll be more meetings, it’ll be decided in the coming weeks.
Of course, I think USTA and US Open will do their best to make sure that this tournament is as good as possible so that no one gets sick during the competition. But I think the conditions are still tough enough. For example, according to the rule, if you’re sick or have any symptoms, you can be removed from any round, isolated for 14 days…
Some moments that are not yet known exactly how they will go – this is quite difficult for all players. I think they’ll do the best they can for us. We’ll see how it goes soon. I hope that everything will work out and we’ll come back slowly.” -Elina said in the interview with Ukrainian Tennis.
In the previous year at the competitions of US Open, Elina reached the semifinals, where she lost to American tennis player Serena Williams in two sets.
