Romanian tennis player Simona Halep told The New York Times about her attitude towards the US Open, which may take place in early September.
“I’m very afraid to fly to New York, given the whole coronavirus situation. I’m afraid not only because of the pandemic, but also because it’s dangerous to travel, because of quarantine conditions and new tournament rules.
We’re all used to certain conditions, and we don’t want to change anything – it’s difficult for the body. I understand that the economic resumption of the season is beneficial for everyone, but whether to play or not is everyone’s personal business. We are all on an equal footing and we all have to think about ourselves,” said Halep.
