Russian Karen Khachanov told how he trains during a forced break in the Tour.
“At first, I thought we’d rest for a week or ten days. Then everything was closed in Russia, everything was postponed. I started training. After ten days, new restrictions began, we had to stay home. But I could train, do physical exercises. I think now I am incredibly strong physically.
But now I’m not ready for the big season. You have to run better, have strong legs. I’ve been doing general training: on weight, upper body. I used to run a lot because we’re like a village here. Even with restrictions in the village, you can run. I ran three times a week at 10 km, at 12 km.
Officially the halls open on June 24th, but professional athletes can train from the 1st. Who are you training with here? There are a lot of guys who are also in Russia, like Donskoy, my friends from Futures, Kukushkin, Bublik – quite a lot of guys”, – Eurosport quotes Khachanov.
