Romanian Simona Halep shared her expectations for the return to competition in an interview with Tennis 365.
“My longest break before the quarantine was three or four weeks, and even then it was hard for me to get back to competition. You lose rhythm and focus, and if you idle for a week, you lose six months in terms of fitness.
I don’t know what other athletes have been doing all this time. Maybe they were jogging or strength training. I feel that it will be hard for me to come back, the lack of official matches.
You can train five hours a day for a year, but if you have no official matches, you are not in the game. It’s a huge difference,” said Halep.
