German tennis player Alexander Zverev overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Acapulco, beating in two sets the representative of Australia Alexei Popyrin – 6/3, 6/3.
The match lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. The third racket of the world, 21-year-old Alexander, recorded three breaks and 13 aces, making a mistake twice when serving. 19-year-old Popyrin, occupying the 133rd position in the world classification, made four aces and three double faults.
The German increased the gap in the personal meetings of the players – 2: 0. In the second round of the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL competition, Zverev will fight with the Spaniard David Ferrer.
